 The CFPA is a four-year program housed at Woodbridge Senior High School in Woodbridge, Virginia. Young artists from Prince William County can audition to begin an intensive study of Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental or Vocal Music, Music Technology, Theater, or Visual Art. Auditions are held in January and February of each year.

Katy Chmura receives CAPPIE nomination
Katy Chmura, a senior in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Specialty Program at Woodbridge Senior High School is the only student in the Prince William County School Division to be nominated for a 2009 National Capital Area CAPPIE Award. The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, publish those reviews in local newspapers and nominate student actors for awards similar to that of the Academy Awards. Katy was nominated in the "Best Featured Actress in a Musical" category for her role as Delilah Strict in the school's production of "Zombie Prom."  Katy will participate in the Awards Gala which will be held at the Kennedy Center on Sunday, June 7.

No CFPA points will be accepted after May 29, 2009.

Pulizter Prize Winning Poet to Visit CFPA
Claudia Emerson, 2006 Pulitzer Prize winner for poetry and professor of English and Arrington Distinguished Chair in Poetry at the University of Mary Washington will be presenting a reading and master class here at Woodbridge for our creative writing students on Wednesday, April 15 at 12:30 pm. Along with her many accolades, Ms. Emerson was also appointed  Poet Laureate of Virginia by Governor Kaine in 2008.

Erin Fillers Wins First Place in Local Art Contest
Congratulations to Erin Fillers who won first place in the painting division of the Water Art Invitational Competition sponsored by the Prince William County Service Authority. Erin was presented a check for $800 and Mrs. Boyle, art teacher, received an award of $300.
